ODeX Blog Series : Promoting The Experience For The New World Of Work From Home - Kapil R Patel

I Logged IN:
Finally, the sixth installment of the ODeX Officials Blog Series is here. I realize it has been a while since we spoke, but the reason was that our next official was too far away to contact owing to a time zone difference.
I realized it is late, but the story is worth hearing.
Pay attention...
Kapil R. Patel, Country Manager-Ghana, presents his story from Mumbai to Accra (Ghana).
Kapil, Welcome back to India for your Holidays. Without wasting your vacations can you please tell me your Story in a paragraph from day 1 of your career in ODeX?
I was a part of ODeX journey before it was founded ...
I began my career at ODeX in 2015 as the head of support and relationship management.
I consider myself extremely fortunate to be a part of ODeX because it has provided me with the opportunity to travel to and work with people from various countries. We developed our first service in less than a month, to be honest. Then I was offered the chance to work in Ghana.
Who inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
One name: LIJI NOWAL
Yes, that is true.
I mean she really inspired & motivated me to be, what I am today. Prior to establishing ODeX, we used to converse on general topics during her visits to my previous organization. We also used to assist each other in work. And one day, she gave me the opportunity to work with ODeX, and the journey continues. She is already in a position of control, but she remains humble. That motivates me to participate in the ODeX. I still look up to her to this day.
You are managing ODeX services in West Africa. Tell me how easier or difficult it was for you to settle down there with local people (both personally & professionally) & convince them on using ODeX services. Just a quick story on India to Ghana...
Ahhh Journey from India to Ghana...
Its sounds so filmy LOL!!
So, I received the first offer for Nigeria, but our partners advised us to begin our service in Ghana first, so my journey began somewhere in April 2018 in Ghana. I first visited Ghana with Liji, and it was very easy for me to settle in Ghana because I am an extrovert who enjoys meeting new people. To be honest, I never felt that I was not in India. And convincing Ghanaians to use ODeX was difficult because Ghana is a cash-rich economy and they do not believe in digital payments. On the other hand, ODeX believes in everything in a digital way. So, it was not easy to establish, but after a year, things moved in some way, with good support from shipping lines & the current journey is well known to you.
What is your secret talent that no one knows about?
I don't have any hidden talents. Everyone is aware of what I do and how I work. One thing I want you to know is that it is not a hidden talent, but my ability to manage people or interact with new people comes naturally to me because when I meet a new person, I see them as a friend, my younger or elder brother.
I have been working in the company for 2 years. Do you have any feedback for me?
In Mumbai, I have spent very little time with you in ODeX because I was about to leave for Ghana at the time you joined, but my relationship with you is more personal than professional.
