COSCO Creates A New Record With Its Outstanding Ship Design A Cosco subsidiary (dedicated to designing vessels) has successfully developed a record-breaking design for a 25,000 teu ship. As owned by the Cosco shipping, the Shanghai Ship And Shipping Research Institute (SSSRI) has worked towards earning the approval of the design, for which the CSSC No.708 Institute has given a thumbs-up. Taking into consideration the views put forward by the renowned research institute, the design of the new ultra-large container vessel is perfectly in accordance with the China Manufacturing 2025 plan of strategy (as approved by the Government) and also meets the necessary requirements of the nations’ Belt and Road initiative. The new Cosco ship design has taken the maritime industry by storm and with reference to this context, the MSC company (popular as Maersk’s partner on the 2M vessel sharing agreement) is preparing to launch a series of 23,000 teu vessels in the near future. The Asia Director of the Sea Intelligence Maritime Analysis, Mr. Andy Lane, has highlighted his doubts regarding the launch of the boxship as owned by Cosco. Regional Container Lines Has Declared The Restructuring Of A Few Services Thailand-based Regional Container Lines (RCL) has planned to revamp a number of its existing services along with the cooperation of its partners. Ocean Network Express (ONE) and RCL are jointly working towards the restructuring the Thailand-Indonesia services (RTI 1 and RTI 2) by introducing a few large-sized vessels. In the case of RTI 1 service, the RCL has planned to utilize the Racha Bhum (2,800 teu) vessel, which will be accompanied by a second vessel deployed by the ONE. Coming to the RTI 2 service, the two major shipping companies have decided to deploy two vessels, each of 4,200 teu size. Throwing light on this matter, RCL is confident that the increased capacity will prove to be extremely beneficial for the steadily growing traffic between Thailand and Indonesia. The recent development will undeniably boost both the nation’s economies with the provision of direct shipments and the transhipment hub of Port Klang and Singapore. In addition to the RTI service, RCL has decided to supervise the Thailand-Vietnam-China service, which will be revamped with the addition of the 1,000 teu Danu Bhumi and the 1,000 teu ALS Satsuki. The new rotation will now read as Bangkok- Thai Sugar Terminal- Haiphong- Nansha- Shekou- Bangkok- Thai Sugar Terminal. A New Milestone Is Achieved By The CMA CGM Group And APM Terminals Mumbai The APM Terminals Mumbai (one of the well-established and popular ports in India) and the renowned CMA CGM organization has jointly achieved a new, national record by handling 11,026 teus for the M.V. APL New York (as owned by CMA CGM) in a single, port call. Undoubtedly, the handling and servicing of a volume of this magnitude during a port call has been a great achievement and is worthy of praise. This was possible due to the APM Terminal organization’s collaboration with the CMA CGM Group India Operations Team, which has definitely played an instrumental role in setting a new record in the arena of Indian container terminal operations. This remarkable achievement has also highlighted the APM organization’s dedication and significance in the EXIM trade of the nation. The organization has received much-deserved appreciation because of the demonstration of the amazing cooperation between the operations unit, the support unit and the commercial unit.
