Hapag-Lloyd Constructs New Steel Floor Containers To Carry Heavy Shipment
Hapag-Lloyd has conceptualized and created a new, steel floor container that will perform better in shouldering the weight of heavy shipment than the ordinary, wood-floored boxes. According to the views expressed by the major shipping company, these steel containers are specially designed for the smooth transportation of all types of cargo. This includes a heavy-weight shipment or a rather large load ( of maybe, machines) that is loaded into the containers per running metre. The company has put forward the statistical data that indicates as to how a wooden floor is capable of loading only 4.6 tons per metre as compared to a normal, steel box that can load 7.6 tons per metre. This new container is also well-equipped with a great number of lashing rings that allows an efficient securing of load.
Hapag-Lloyd has highlighted the fact that these innovative, steel boxes are always well-maintained, clean and devoid of any residue from the previous loading. The main advantage of using steel instead of wood is that steel does not absorb any liquid or odour, which can occur due to possible leaks inside the containers. The somewhat wavy shape of the steel floor aids in protecting the cargo from coming into any contact with any fluid, probably due to excessive condensation. It is further possible for the customers to load much heavier weights because the tare weight of the steel floor boxes is around 150 kilograms lighter than the boxes that include traditional floors.
