CMA CGM Signs Up with the Freightos’ Digital Sales
The third largest containerline in the world, CMA CGM, is declared as the first ocean carrier to register on the box platform called Freightos. The France-based company has gained access to Freightos’ booking, shipment management system, digital sales etc. to improve the condition of its transpacific trade lanes. Nowadays, the shippers are focused on booking space on the boxships with the help of online systems, as provided by Freightos.
According to the media, the deal is considered to be an “ambitious pilot agreement” that has granted CMA CGM with the status of being the first ocean carrier to be featured on Freightos. The benefits of being listed on the online platform are many, which includes the ease of secured capacity, guaranteed pricing and of course, online bookings regarding the China-US trade lanes owned by the company.
Moreover, a well-planned provision has been secured for the further extension of lanes, if added in the future. Since the concept of travel websites has become exceedingly common, the Freightos website is taking the marine world by storm. The CMA CGM rates are now available for free of charge on the online network. Following the trend, major companies like Maersk and Hapag-Llyod are attempting to launch their own online booking systems. As claimed by Freightos, this is a huge step for the shipping industry because now it is possible for the customers to obtain guaranteed rates within a matter of a few seconds. In fact, now the global shipping on key trade lanes is functioning the same as e-commerce or passenger travel sites.
