Big Liner Organizations Launch a New Container Shipping Platform
A few of the world-famous liner giants in the shipping industry like the Hapag-Lloyd, AP Moller-Maersk, MSC, Ocean Network Express (ONE) and the CMA CGM, have recently collaborated to create a new association that is solely meant for container shipping purposes. This platform will play an important role in the standardization, digitalization and interoperability in the popular field of container shipping.
The five, above-mentioned shipping lines have instructed the respective IT executives to aid the formation of some pretty common information technology standards, which will offer free access and useful services to all the potential stakeholders in the container shipping sector.
According to the views put forward by the CIO of MSC, Andre Simha, the creation of a single network operated by the major shipping companies across the world will prove to be highly beneficial for all the stakeholders and clients in the industry. In fact, the common set of information technology standards will allow much better transparency and less red tape.
Nowadays, the innovative technologies are customer-friendly in nature and the joint set of technical standards are extremely helpful in promoting the need for value-oriented differentiation in the container shipping segment. This newly-launched platform is essentially a neutral, non-profit body formed by the five, well-established lines. Adam Banks, Chief Technology and Information Officer at AP Moller-Maersk, has highlighted the fact that this new association will boost the progress of container shipping towards digitalization. As a positive consequence, the supply chains of all the clients will notice a huge improvement.
