Latest Updates On Ocean Shipping - 25 June 2018
The last week in the shipping industry has been pretty eventful and has thrown light on some really important issues. Let’s take a good look at those updates. The earlier 2-year contract in September 2016 was renewed for 30 more months as Maersk is very satisfied with the system’s performance and is looking forward to further explore its integration potential. As per this new agreement, the system (provided by the BigOceanData) will cover three times the initial number of ships and almost double the number of users involved. In the past two years, the vessel tracking services have been a huge success in deftly tracking the Maersk Line’s fleet with the help of fused data feeds. The advanced system provided by the BigOceanData is capable of producing position reports every 10 minutes in ocean waters, as well as coastal waters. Therefore, it becomes a lot easier for Maersk to optimize the performance of its existing vessels while reaping the benefits of cost savings, in the long run.
