Mediterranean Shipping Co Introduced The Electronic Bill Of Lading For Its Customers On A Global Scale The Mediterranean Shipping Co has finally launched the electronic bill of lading (eBL) for its customers worldwide to pave the path for widespread eBL adoption. The eBL is considered to be an efficient service that allows both shippers and supply chain stakeholders to accept and further transmit the bill of lading via an electronic platform without disrupting the daily business-related operations. There are high chances of the eBL gaining momentum and becoming the newest trend in the world of shipping. Initially, MSC had extensively utilized the WAVE BL blockchain platform for launching its pilot phase that focussed on distributed ledger technology. The WAVE BL platform made a genuine effort that all customers associated with the booking of a cargo shipment will find it more convenient to supply, transfer, endorse and supervise the important documents with the help of a trustworthy, decentralized network. WAVE BL served as the ideal digital-based solution to resonate the age-old paper-based procedure, which has steadily earned a huge amount of popularity in the shipping and cargo transportation industry. Hence, WAVE BL is a fast and secure digital alternative to introduce a hassle-free transaction to traditional print documents. As you must be aware of, MSC has already made its mark in the digital transformation of the maritime scenario as one of the founding members of the Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA) and has encouraged a myriad of new-age ventures to introduce standardization and digitalization in the container shipping arena. Calcutta Port Trust Has Registered Its Highest Ever Net Surplus In A Long-Term Period Of Ten Years The world is facing a life-threatening Coronavirus pandemic that has severely affected businesses in the global maritime arena. In this unfortunate and unpredictable scenario, it is worth appreciating that the Calcutta Port Trust (CPT) has successfully recorded the highest net surplus in 2020-21 and truth be told, the numbers have never reached such an incredible milestone in the last decade. The Calcutta Port Trust has registered a 7.3 hike in revenue in spite of the cargo traffic volume dropping by 4.14 percent. The port has also received immense support from rising port charges, cost control measures, land revenue, and new shipment. Keeping in mind the hindrances put forward by the raging pandemic, the port has still delivered an outstanding performance in net surplus, while the lack of thermal coal traffic has led to restricted cargo growth. Mumbai Port Trust Receives The Green Signal To Build Two Offshore Container Berths And One Terminal In the recent news, the Mumbai Port Trust has received confirmation from Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority to move forward with the construction of two offshore container berths along with one new terminal. Over the past few years, the Mumbai Port Trust has been successful in developing two berths, rail container depot, turning circle dredging, capital dredging for berth pocket, and filling of Princes and Victoria Dock. Cochin Port Trust Has Now Entered The Seaplane Bunkering Business The Cochin Port Trust has ventured into the seaplane bunkering business by boosting the refueling of a seaplane traveling to Maldives. Cochin Port Trust has already established its global presence in bunkering ocean going crafts and of late, the port has forayed into the seaplane bunkering territory by facilitating the berthing of a SpiceJet seaplane while it was enroute Maldives. Starting its journey from Goa, the seaplane travelled to Maldives after bunkering 975 litres of Aviation Turbine Fuel as well as hoarding essential items. Norway-Based LNG Bunkering Vessel Called Bergen LNG Starts Its Operations The first ever liquefied natural gas or LNG bunkering vessel from Norway has commenced its operations on the Norwegian west coast to enable supplies to the passenger vessels (supervised by Hurtigruten and Kystruten), which are fuelled by LNG.
