Samskip Declared A Formal Agreement With GoodShipping To Operate Its Fleet On Marine Biofuels
Over the past few years, Samskip has carved out its own niche in the maritime industry as one of the well-established global multimodal logistics organizations. Recently, Samskip has announced its collaboration with the sustainable cargo venture called GoodShipping in order to operate a major part of its existing fleet on marine biofuels. It is being predicted that marine biofuels will prove beneficial in cutting down the harmful CO2 emissions up to 45% and might go up to an incredible 80 percent in the near future. ‘Samskip Endeavour’ (a Samskip-owned containership weighing 800 teus) has emerged as the first vessel to run on the newly launched biofuels after it decided to abort its journeys fuelled by traditional, non-renewable sources. For the last two years, the Samskip-owned container vessel has successfully embarked on trial runs between Ireland and the Netherlands to confirm the reliability of marine biofuels. Samskip is doing its level best to preserve our precious environment from further damage by resorting to the usage of marine biofuels instead of exhausting the limited resources. So far, the multimodal logistics company has been able to decarbonise its cargo streams by engaging energy transitions in an innovative and modern strategy.
