Global Ship Lease Seals The Deal To Acquire And Charter Seven Post-Panamax Container Vessels
The Global Ship Lease has given a green signal to buy and charter no less than seven post-panamax container vessels each weighing 6,000 teu. Global Ship Lease has a loyal customer base that includes popular names like Hapag-Llyod, Maersk, COSCO, ZIM, CMA CGM and MSC. The total investment is declared as $116m with 20 years being the approximate average age of each container ship. The delivery dates for the 9,000 teu container vessels have been fixed during the second and third quarters of 2021 and will soon be chartered to renowned liner operators for 36 months at the minimum with two one-year extension variants if the need arises. The above-mentioned post-panamax vessels are all set to be renamed as GSL Tegea, GSL Arcadia, GSL Maria, GSL Violetta, GSL Melita, GSL Dorothea, and GSL MYNY. Throwing light on this post-panamax transaction, the Executive Chairman of Global Ship Lease is of the opinion that this investment will ensure hefty financial returns along with a low residual value risk with a positive cashflow. The transaction will also establish GSL’s strong presence in efficiently supervising the older vessels in the maritime arena and boost its overall growth.

It is amazing how the port has transformed into a gateway port for dealing with Nepal traffic and is now responsible for handling 80 percent of Nepal EXIM cargo. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister, has announced the upcoming plans of introducing a permanent jetty along with advanced infrastructure on Gomati river, which is located at Sonamura in the Sepahijala district in Tripura. The newly launched jetty service will boost the smooth, hassle-free movement of small ships and barges via the Sonamura-Daudkandi waterways. On July 4, Tripura had set up a floating jetty on the Gomati river as an integral part of the connectivity project under the Indo-Bangla International inland waterways. Since Gomati is termed as a seasonal river, the water route only remains accessible for 3-4 months in a year owing to the fact that the silts are deposited too fast.
